You're Already a Great Parent
Share
Let’s just get one thing out of the way:
If you’re here, reading a blog about raising kind kids, you’re already doing great.
Because here’s the truth — the mere act of trying to help your child grow into a thoughtful, kind human being automatically puts you in the “great parent” category. You care. You’re thinking. You’re showing up. That’s the work.
But oh, the internet.
Social media can be an incredible place — full of creative ideas, connection, and solidarity (and let’s be honest, a few really solid memes). But it can also be... a lot. The endless stream of parenting tips, warnings, “don’ts,” and “musts” can leave even the most confident parent questioning everything.
Suddenly you’re wondering:
-
“Should I be doing more sensory play?”
-
“Is this snack basically poison?”
-
“Will five extra minutes of screen time undo years of love and nurturing?”
It’s exhausting.
The Myth of the “Perfect Parent”
As a mom, I’m deeply skeptical of anyone who claims to have this parenting thing figured out. If someone confidently tells me that all screen time will melt my kid’s brain, or that I’ve been packing the “wrong” lunch for the last six months… I’m out.
Even the leading pediatric experts are constantly updating their recommendations as they learn more about child development. So no — there’s no universal playbook. There’s no magic formula. There’s just us: imperfect parents doing our best, learning as we go, and trying to raise good humans in a very noisy world.
What Is Helpful
You know what actually works?
Community.
Real, honest, judgment-free conversations between parents who get it. The “hey, this worked for us” and “ugh, today was rough” kind of sharing. The kind that reminds you you’re not alone.
That’s why I’m building the Joy Jean Media Kindness Community — a space for parents, caregivers, and educators who want to raise kids who care. Kids who think about how their actions make others feel. Kids who take the time to help a classmate or invite someone sitting alone on the playground to join in.
Let’s Build the Village (We All Need It)
It’s not about perfection. It’s about connection.
So please, tell me all about the wins, the struggles, the days when you want to lock yourself in a closet just to scream (we all have them). Did your child say “thank you” without being prompted? I want to hear about it! Did they offer a hand to a friend in need? I want to celebrate with you!
I also TRULY want to do what I can to make things just a little bit easier. As a part of this community, you’ll get free, fun resources sent straight to your inbox that make it easy to make kindness a part of everyday life — like Kindness Conversation Starters, Acts of Kindness Bingo, and parent discussion guides. I’ll also share a little insight each month that hopefully makes you stop, take the deepest breath you’ve taken all day, and realize that you are an amazing parent!
Because when we raise kind kids, we’re not just changing their lives — we’re shaping the future of the world they’ll grow up in.
So here’s your official invitation:
